Privacy Policy for Orbadio
This policy applies to the Orbadio (环听) iPhone application developed by Tinglei Cui. Orbadio lets you discover and listen to live radio. It does not require an Orbadio account, and the developer does not operate a server for your listening history or favorites.
1. Accounts, advertising, and permissions
Orbadio does not include advertising, behavioral analytics, cross-app tracking, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs. It does not access your advertising identifier or request your device location, microphone, contacts, camera, or photo library. The app does not insert advertisements into broadcasts; station operators may broadcast their own advertisements.
2. Data stored on your iPhone
Station favorites, saved song details, recent stations, your last station, and listening preferences are stored in the app's local storage. Saved song details may include the title, artist, source station, date, and available Shazam identifiers or Apple Music links. Directory responses are also cached locally. These records are used to display your library, restore your preferred station, and apply your settings. They are not uploaded to a developer library server.
Orbadio does not provide account-based or iCloud synchronization. Depending on your system settings, iOS device backups may include the app's local data. This is separate from synchronization provided by the app.
3. Radio directory requests
Orbadio obtains station information from the community-maintained Radio Browser directory. Station or place search terms, city names explored on the globe, and country query parameters are sent to the directory service to return relevant stations. These refer to places you explore, not to a GPS location read from your device.
The directory provider receives your IP address, query parameters, and technical information needed for the connection, such as request headers. Its logging and retention practices are controlled by that provider. See the Radio Browser FAQ for service information.
4. Live radio playback
Audio streams connect directly to the station's servers or streaming providers. Those providers receive your IP address and connection information and may process them under their own policies. Orbadio does not operate an audio relay. Preparing a next station can make an additional connection to that station before you switch; cellular preloading can be controlled in Settings.
5. Song recognition
Recognition starts only when you request it. Orbadio makes an additional connection to the current stream to obtain a short audio sample, creates an audio fingerprint on your iPhone, and submits the fingerprint through Apple's ShazamKit service to find a match. The microphone is not used, and the sampled audio is not uploaded to the developer or to Apple by Orbadio. Temporary sampling and decoding files are removed after processing. Apple processes recognition requests under its own privacy terms; see ShazamKit and Apple's Privacy Policy.
If you save a recognized song, its metadata is kept locally as described above. Orbadio does not save the full song audio to your library or automatically add the song to an external music account.
6. Music services and sharing
When you choose Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, QQ Music, or NetEase Cloud Music, Orbadio passes the title and artist as a search query, or an available direct song link, to the selected service. Its app or website receives the request and ordinary connection information under its own policies. Orbadio does not sign in to your music accounts, read your playlists, or synchronize favorites with these services.
When you choose to share a song or station link, iOS passes the selected information to the destination you choose. The developer does not receive your sharing destination or a copy of the shared item through an Orbadio server.
7. Diagnostics and support emails
The app writes technical diagnostics to the device's system log for troubleshooting and does not include a custom log-upload service. Apple may process system or App Store diagnostics according to your Apple settings and Apple's policies.
If you email support, the developer and email providers receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. This information is used to answer your request and investigate the issue and may be retained while follow-up is needed. You can ask for deletion by contacting the address below, subject to any applicable legal retention requirements. Please do not send passwords or other unnecessary sensitive information.
8. Retention, deletion, and your choices
Your library and preferences remain on the device until you change them or delete the app. You can remove individual station and song favorites in the app. To remove all app-local records, choose Delete App in iOS; Offload App preserves app data. Copies in system backups must be managed separately through your device or Apple backup settings. No Orbadio account deletion is required because no account is created.
External services control their own retention and deletion procedures. Requests about data they hold should be directed to the relevant provider. These services may process network requests outside your country. You can avoid optional recognition, music-link, and sharing requests by not using those actions.
9. Children's privacy and security
Orbadio is not designed specifically for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children for the developer. Live content is provided by independent broadcasters. Protect your device and use appropriate system privacy and security settings. Some broadcaster streams use HTTP rather than encrypted HTTPS; their network traffic may be visible to network operators.
10. Policy changes and contact
This policy may change as the app or its services change. The date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision. For privacy questions or a request concerning information you have emailed to us, contact Tinglei Cui at cuitinglei@qq.com.
